Urgent: Emergency Court Support for Ruth Mufute

BIJAN is throwing an emergency rally at the Moakley Courthouse in Boston at noon on Wednesday, April 30.

Ruth Mufute, a 70-year-old lawful permanent resident from Worcester and beloved member of their broader immigrant justice network, was detained by federal agents at Logan Airport earlier Tuesday afternoon as she was traveling home to her family. We need to mobilize our networks to demand Ruth’s immediate release and return to her family.

The year 2025 marks the 60th Anniversary of the 1965 Freedom Rally led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Ruth Batson, Alan Gartner, Reverend Virgil Wood, and Dr. Ralph Abernathy. On April 26th, we proved that Boston remains a powerful force for freedom and human dignity, just as Dr. King saw it. Mass 50501 was proud to work with Embrace Boston as one of many partners in this historic event.
